EDITORIAL ASSISTANT, PROFILE BOOKS
We are an award-winning independent publisher in search of an editorial assistant to work on the Profile non-fiction list.
We’re looking for someone who is smart and can get a lot done: you’ll make sure everyone has what they need to publish our books brilliantly, that authors are looked after and admin taken care of. You’ll need to turn your hand to managing diaries and sharing information as well as reading submissions, writing copy and briefing covers.
Reporting to the Publishing Director of Profile Books, you’ll be working with bestselling authors such as Ruby Tandoh, Oliver Bullough, Shoshana Zuboff and Shaun Bythell.
You’ll learn what makes a book great and what makes a publication fly, how to edit text, what to think about when acquiring a book and how publishing works. You’ll learn how the teams work together in house and how we work with agents and authors.
You’ll need to be a fluent writer, have a creative mind and be interested in the business of books as well as being a voracious reader. You’ll be reliable, good at taking the initiative and able to keep a clear head when things get busy.
If all this sounds appealing, please send a covering letter and CV to email@example.com by Oct 3, explaining why you’d be perfect and why you want to work with us.
Profile is an equal opportunities employer. Please let us know of any reasonable adjustments you may require when attending an interview.
Profile Books is an established list of stimulating non-fiction. We publish voices with purpose, from Mary Beard and Oliver Bullough to Atul Gawande and Shoshana Zuboff, across disciplines including history, business, economics, science and biography, with a sprinkling of humour. We have successful and established publishing partnerships with international institutions like the Economist and Wellcome Collection.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join us in a new full-time role as Director, Production and Prepress
The salary will be competitive.

- Advising on and negotiating the annual print contracts with the Finance Director

Initial interviews will take place remotely but there will be an opportunity to meet face-to-face and to see our offices during second interviews. Please let us know of any reasonable adjustments you may require when attending an interview.
It is expected that this role will be largely office-based once we are all able to return safely to places of work; we have been largely home-working during most of the last year.
