Ruby TandohWe are delighted to annouce our acquisition of Eat Up!, Ruby Tandoh’s radical manifesto on how to take the guilt out of eating and put the pleasure back in.

Cecily Gayford, Commissioning Editor at Profile Books & Serpent’s Tail has acquired world rights in Eat Up! Food, Appetite and Eating What You Want from Stuart Cooper at Metrostar Media. Serpent’s Tail will publish Eat Up! in February 2018.

Ruby Tandoh is an author and journalist who writes for, among others, the Guardian, Elle and Vice. A finalist on the 2013 Great British Bake Off, she has published two cookery books, Crumb and Flavour. She lives in Sheffield.

Cecily Gayford says: ‘I’m beyond delighted to have acquired Ruby’s brilliant, outspoken and uplifting Eat Up! From pleasure to relationships to mental health, good food and happy eating can enrich every part of our lives, and so it’s hugely refreshing and necessary to find someone who’s here to tell you to eat what you like, how you like. It shouldn’t be a radical message, but it is, and I’m very proud to be publishing it, and to have Ruby on the list.’

Ruby Tandoh says: ‘I'm so excited to be writing Eat Up! for Serpent's Tail – it's an imprint with a history of thoughtful, radical publishing, and I feel really honoured and excited to be a part of that. This is a book all about food: not just how to cook it, or what to eat, but a full, vibrant picture of what food means to us, how it threads through everything from philosophy to pop culture, and the role of cooking – and eating – in self-care. In a market full of diet books, serious foodie tomes and diatribes on the 'right' way to eat, I hope that Eat Up! will signal a return to the joy of food.’
